Since the early 1800s, 18 of Alexandria’s Police officers have lost their lives in service to the City of Alexandria.
The dedicated and courageous members of the City of Alexandria’s police force protect everyone who lives, works, or visits the City of Alexandria. Every time our police officers put on their badge and report for duty they put their lives on the line so that we can live and work in safety.
To honor the memory of their valor and sacrifice, the Alexandria Police Foundation spearheaded an initiative to create a timeless, publicly accessible memorial. We worked with HDR Architecture and Whiting-Turner, two local companies to make this memorial a reality.
The Dedication of the Memorial was Saturday, March 28, 2015. Over 300 people attended the Dedication including family members of the fallen officers.
This beautiful Memorial is located at police headquarters on Wheeler Avenue in the west end of Alexandria. Visitors to the memorial can discover a quiet, contemplative setting which properly honors the courage, sacrifice, and memory of these officers.
